"Inaction breeds doubt and fear. Action breeds confidence and courage.” – Dale Carnegie
When it comes to work that I’m confident in, taking action feels effortless. But for those bigger projects that require more thought – and maybe a touch of courage – sometimes I'll find myself waiting for the ‘perfect moment’ to get started (you know, after I’ve tackled all the easier tasks).
On a recent major website build, there were a few features I wasn’t super confident about implementing because I hadn’t built them before. Instead of getting into it, I'd find myself filling my time with smaller, easier tasks — admin work, minor changes, emails to other clients, you name it.
So, I started tricking my brain into taking action by breaking things down. I’d give myself one small part of the project to tackle – something that would take half an hour or less. I told myself that if I could just get that done, I’d be happy.
This little trick helped me overcome the initial hurdle of getting started. And funnily enough, once that small task was done, my confidence and energy surged, making it easier to dive deeper into the project.
So if you’re feeling a bit stuck, remember – just take action, even if it’s scary or uncomfortable. Sometimes all it takes is one small step to get the momentum going, and each action is going to help you build the confidence you need in the long run.
Prompt #2
How to deliver your final logo package
It’s taken me a year, but I’ve finally finished!
My step-by-step guide on how to deliver a final logo package is done.
Aside from a bit of procrastination (okay, maybe more than a bit), the reason it took so long is that while writing it, I re-evaluated my process and made some improvements.
For those of you who have joined me from the beginning and read my PDF guide, you’ll notice I’ve updated my manual process. I’ve transitioned from the old ‘save as’ method to using Illustrator's 'asset export' feature. And I’ve included examples from my projects to help illustrate things more clearly.
